Forgive: Ephesians 4:32

Croton Plant

32 Be kind and compassionate to one another,

forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)

“To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.”

C.S. Lewis

When we have been wronged, when others have hurt us it is difficult to forgive. Why should we be kind, tender-hearted to someone cruel who has made our life miserable? Why, because Jesus forgives our sins, our inexcusable wrongs. Harboring anger, searching for revenge, is bad for our health and bad for our souls. Try to let go of anger, try to be kind and forgive, act like Jesus.

Where is anger, or hurt holding you back from forgiveness?

Prayer: Our Father, we thank you for forgiving us and loving us with unconditional love. Teach us to be kind and compassionate to each other. Like the leaves of the croton plant, spread upward illuminated by the sun, help us to reach upward to You, Your truth, Your light, Your love. Let Your face shine, upon us, and teach us to forgive, give us peace. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen

  1. Forgiveness is not a feeling, it is a choice. It is the choice to not to let thoughts of hatred rule in your heart To Forgive is necessary for us – to let go of our anger and hate. Only then can we move on.

    1. Unforgiveness limits us it can block healing prayers and cause stress, anger, hate, and unhappiness. It is not easy to forgive, but it is possible with God’s help.

  2. Always a great reminder, Jeanne. ☺ When someone is being unforgiving they tend to think that they are holding the person who hurt them accountable, but really it’s themselves that is truly bound. Unforgiveness is like an invasive weed in that sense. Garden talk. 😃

  3. Very good post! Thank you! Forgiveness involves releasing that person back to God, over and over and over. I love the Croton image of reaching up to God. That’s always the answer but sometimes so hard for my stubborn heart to do. I appreciate your words today. Bless you!

    1. Thanks, Patty forgiveness is never easy, but when we embrace God’s way and forgiveness, we can achieve inner peace and move on.
I enjoy taking photos of plants and flowers, especially when they are “glowing” in the sun. Great hearing from you! God bless you and your family!

  4. I live next to a couple they think they own something God ,helped me to put together and build, she more or less took it over and thinks it belongs to her. Yes it’s hard to forgive, when you know the truth about something and the neighbor is ungrateful. I should of never became her friend I would of been better off. So I guess I should take some of the blame. Pray that God, will give me a forgiving heart and a loving heart like Jesus, so I can deal with this crazy world

    1. Charles, I agree it is very difficult to forgive others when they trespass against us, but it is what we are asked to do in the Lord’s prayer.
I am praying you; find peace and open your heart to forgiveness.
