Light and Truth: Psalm 43:3

Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live.

Psalm 43:3 (NLT)

When we have challenges and difficulties, like the psalmist, we need to ask God to send His light and truth to guide our path, to lead us. In times of trouble and darkness, when we feel lost, we need to ask God to show us His mercy, pour into us the brightness of hope. To ask God to guide us away from sin and lead us in righteousness to the place where He lives.

Pour into me the brightness of your daybreak!
Pour into me your rays of revelation-truth!
Let them comfort and gently lead me onto the shining path,
showing the way into your burning presence,
into your many sanctuaries of holiness.

Psalm 43:3 (TPT)

Are shadows of darkness blocking your view of the light, truth, and bright hope of Jesus?

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy and grace. Let Your light and truth guide our path. Forgive us our sins and lead us in the way of holiness and righteousness. Lord, fill us with Your light and grant us Your peace. Like the beauty of the bright opening blossoms of the crepe myrtle, help us to shine with your bright light and be open-hearted to Your way. In Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen

Thou are with Me

Lord, Thou art with me!
  Whom shall I fear?
Who then can harm me
  While Thou art near?

Under Thy shadow
  Is my retreat;

There to my taste,
  Lord, Thy fruit is sweet.

Lord, Thou art with me,
  And Thou dost give
Strength for the journey,
  Grace now to live.
Mercies each morning

  Thou dost renew;
And for my prospect,
  Thy rest in view.

Lord, Thou art with me;
  Onward: I move;
Each day I’m proving
  More of Thy love.
Now Thou art training,
  Setting me free

From all that hinders,
  To dwell with Thee. 🦋

Lord, Thou art with me (hymn) ~ Author unknown

Armor of Faith and Love: 1Thessalonians 5:8

But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.

1 Thessalonians 5:8 (NLT)

When we follow God and live in the light, we act like Jesus, living in love, walking in faith, and avoiding sin. We need to remain clearheaded focused on His path, sharing the good news while shining His light into the darkness. Protected by the armor of faith and love, secure wearing our helmet, staying strong in our faith, and focused on the hope of salvation.

But since we belong to the day, we must stay alert and clearheaded by placing the breastplate of faith and love over our hearts, and a helmet of the hope of salvation over our thoughts.

1 Thessalonians 5:8 (TPT)

When overwhelmed, worried, confused, do you take time and remember you are protected by God’s armor of faith and love?

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, thank you for your protection and love. Help us to live in the light and be clearheaded, focused on Your path for us. Let us put on the armor of faith and love and Your helmet secure in the confidence of salvation. Like the glowing petals of the orchids reflect light, let us glow with Your light and reflect Your love. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen

The Hymn of Promise

by, Natalie Sleeth

In the bulb, there is a flower
In the seed, an apple tree
In cocoons, a hidden promise
Butterflies will soon be free

In the cold and snow of winter
There’s a spring that waits to be
Unrevealed until its season
Something God alone can see

There’s a song in every silence
Seeking word and melody
There’s a dawn in every darkness
Bringing hope to you and me

From the past will come the future
What it holds, a mystery
Unrevealed until its season
Something God alone can see

Hymn Of Promise sung by Debra Nesgoda

Free: John 8:36

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

John 8:36 (NIV)

True freedom; is found in Jesus. When we believe in Jesus; and submit to His authority, we are adopted and become children of God. Jesus is not setting us free to do what we want but freeing us; to clearly see what we should do. Faith in Jesus frees us, frees us from the slavery and corruption of sin. Jesus is our source of spiritual truth; in Him, we are free, free indeed.

What is holding you back from believing in Jesus and walking in a relationship with Him being free, indeed?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for your grace and forgiveness toward us. We are in awe of Christ’s sacrifice for us. Teach us to believe, put our faith in Jesus, and become the people You created us to be. Help us to follow Your path. Like the petals of the daisy embrace the bright center, let us embrace Jesus, learning to be free from the slavery of sin. In His Holy Name. Amen

Holy, Holy, Holy – Lord God Almighty

written by, Reginald Heber

Holy, holy, holy
Lord, God Almighty
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee

Holy, holy, holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons blessed Trinity
Holy, holy, holy

Though the darkness hide Thee
Though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee
Perfect in power, in love, and purity

Holy, holy, holy
Lord, God Almighty
All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth and sky and sea

Holy, holy, holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons blessed Trinity

The Hymn: Holy, Holy, Holy – sung by, Audrey Assad

God is With Us: Psalm 139:9-10

9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

Psalm 139:9-10 (NIV)

God’s presence is everywhere. God dwells with His people wherever they are, so we are never alone. He is with us at all times, at daybreak, and through the night. God wants to take care of us and guide us along His path for us. His right hand will hold us, protect us so we won’t slip and fall. He will uphold us with His righteous right hand and keep us safe. Our God is with us always; He is omnipresent present everywhere, omnipotent all-powerful, and omniscient all-knowing.

When you feel alone, worried, or afraid do you take time to rest in God’s peace, relaxing and knowing God is with you?

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for your care and guidance. Help us to understand that You are always with us and always reachable by prayer. Teach us to look to You for guidance and direction, knowing that Your righteous right hand will hold us and keep us safe. Like the flowing wing-like petals of the orchid, let us realize that on the wings of dawn and the far side of the sea, you are with us. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen

Patient in Faith: Isaiah 30:18

18 Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!

Isaiah 30:18 (NIV)

Blessed are all who wait for the Lord. In Isaiah verses 15-17, the people of Judah were relying on their way, fleeing to Egypt instead of listening to God. Wait in verse 18 is not just the passing of time but also to rely on God, being patient in faith, trusting Him, while waiting for Him to act. The Lord is a God of justice. He wants us to listen to Him, grow in faith, and seek His way. Grace and compassion are shown to those who faithfully wait for the Lord.

Have you been rushing forward, following your own ways, instead of being patient, listening, and waiting in faith?

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, open our hearts and minds to listen to You. Teach us to be patient and wait in faith for Your direction. Thank you, Lord, for blessing us with Your grace and compassion. Let our faith be centered, on You like the clustered center petals of the camellia, and our hearts open to You like the flower’s outer open petals. In Jesus’ holy and loving name. Amen

Justice: Amos 5:24

24 I want you to treat others fairly.
So let fair treatment roll on
    just as a river does!
Always do what is right.
    Let right living flow along
like a stream that never runs dry!

Amos 5:24 (NIRV)

Amos was a shepherd who had a vision about Israel back in the 8th Century BC. He wanted the people to know that God wasn’t impressed with how the rich and powerful were taking advantage of the poor. Amos called for repentance. He wanted the people to realize God wanted justice to roll like a river, always doing right. For righteousness to prevail, and justice flow like a stream that never runs dry. To have a return to true worship and following God’s commandments. For justice not to be obstructed but to be fair for all. A timely message.

Do you know what I want?
    I want justice—oceans of it.
I want fairness—rivers of it.
    That’s what I want. That’s all I want.

Amos 5:24 (MSG)

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your guidance and forgiveness. Teach us to be fair, caring, and to do what is right; let justice roll like a river. Let your Word guide us, and direct us in our dealings with others. Help us to realize and do what is right in Your eyes. Like the open and vibrant blooms of the chrysanthemum, let us be open-hearted and vibrant in our love. Guide us in Your truth. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen
