The Spirit of Truth – John 14:16

15“If you love me, you will obey my commandments. 16Then I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever – 17the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it does not see him or know him. But you know him, because he resides with you and will be in you. John 14:15 -17 (NET)

In verse 16, Jesus talks to His disciples at the Last Supper. He tells them He is leaving but assures them He will not leave them alone. God will send another Helper, the Spirit of Truth, to guide believers in Jesus’ truth.

Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14:6 (NLT)

The Spirit of Truth is another name for the Holy Spirit, who is the third person of the Holy Trinity. The Trinity includes God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, our advocate. When we put our faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us. The Holy Spirit guides, helps, and comforts us, living within all believers. He teaches us to follow God’s will and stays with us always, offering wisdom and peace, especially in hard times. With His help, we can tell what is true and what to believe. The Holy Spirit keeps us connected to God.

The Holy Spirit, our advocate, empowers us, comforts us, guides us, and helps us grow in faith.

15-17 “If you love me, show it by doing what I’ve told you. I will talk to the Father, and he’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth. The godless world can’t take him in because it doesn’t have eyes to see him, doesn’t know what to look for. But you know him already because he has been staying with you, and will even be in you!

John 14:15 -17 (MSG)

Thank You, Lord God, for Your grace upon us. Help us to be led by the Spirit of Truth, to be guided by Him. Help us remember You are always with us. As the three daisy flowers bloomed together, may we bloom in faith and rely on the Holy Trinity. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen.

Restore – Psalm 51:12

Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

– Psalm 51:12 (NIV)

In this verse, King David asks God to renew and restore him after his sin with Bathsheba. Sin brings disruption and a heavy sense of guilt. David is repenting and asking God to bring back the joy that comes from salvation. Sin takes away our joy and unsettles our spiritual lives, but when we are reconciled with God, our relationship is restored. This brings back the joy of salvation and leads to lasting happiness and peace.

In the second part of the verse, David asks God to give him a willing and obedient spirit. This means being open to God’s guidance and correction. It shows a desire to live in accordance with God’s will and to avoid returning to sin. David is seeking spiritual renewal through an obedient heart, by repentance, and reliance on God’s will.

When we turn from our sins and walk in obedience, our joy of salvation is restored.

Our Heavenly Father, thank You for Your forgiveness and mercy. Teach us to repent of our sins and to live in joyful obedience according to Your will. Restore us to grow in faith and joy and follow You. Like the gerbera daisy petals radiate out from the center, let us be centered on You and radiate Your love. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen.

Not by Might or Power – Zechariah 4:6

So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. – Zechariah 4:6 (NIV)

The Israelites faced the monumental task of rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem after returning from Babylonian captivity, and they felt weary and discouraged. God sent a message to the prophet Zechariah to give to Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah, to encourage the people. The Lord told the Israelites that overcoming challenges requires divine guidance and empowerment, which are more important than military might or human strength. God’s sustaining Spirit will accomplish the goal by working through His people.

The angel told me to give Zerubbabel this message from the LORD: “You will succeed, not by military might or by your own strength, but by my spirit. Zechariah 4:6 (GNT)

This verse is a reminder that we need to shift from self-reliance to reliance on God to achieve extraordinary things— and to rely on His power rather than our own. The statement “not by our might nor by power” underscores that the blessing of God’s spirit is needed, for without it, even mighty armies can fail. For God’s work is accomplished not by human strength but through the Holy Spirit. God equips us through His Spirit to complete what needs to be accomplished.

Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your protection and strength. Help us to grow in faith and realise that we need to rely on You rather than on our own might and power. Teach us to reach out to You in prayer when we are discouraged, weary, and afraid. Like the lilies return every spring and blossom in the sunlight, let us return to You and blossom in Your light. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thousand Generations – Deuteronomy 7:9

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.- Deuteronomy 7:9 (NIV)

In this verse, Moses is giving instructions to the Israelites. He wants them to realize that the Lord your God is God, the one true God. He is our one true God, the creator of the universe, possessing all power and knowledge. He is faithful.

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. – 1 Chronicles 29:11 (ESV)

God is a faithful God; He never lies, He keeps His word, and He won’t forget His promises. He is eternal, powerful, and unchanging. He possesses all knowledge and loves us with everlasting love.

The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. – Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)

God’s covenants of love are kept for a thousand generations to those who love Him and keep His commandments. He is our anchor during stormy seas, a solid rock to lean on during uncertain times.

God is faithful and loves us; He is eternally present, powerful, and unchanging. During difficult times, we can communicate with the Lord by reaching out to Him in prayer, drawing strength from the knowledge that He is with us always and that His blessings continue across generations.

Know this: God, your God, is God indeed, a God you can depend upon. He keeps his covenant of loyal love with those who love him and observe his commandments for a thousand generations. Deuteronomy 7:9 (MSG)

Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for Your faithfulness and steadfast love. Guide us to do Your will and follow Your ways. Teach us to reach out to You when we are afraid, lost, or confused. Like the crabapple tree blossoms in spring and bears fruit in summer, let us blossom in faith and bear spiritual fruit. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen.

Faith and Obedience – John 14:23

Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. Then my Father will love him, and we will go to him and make our home within him. John 14:23 (ISV)

Jesus wants to be close to us, involved in our lives, and have a personal connection with us. Keeping His word means following Him and His teachings with faith and obedience, and adhering to His word in our daily lives.

God loves us, and He wants to have a deeper loving relationship with us. When we love Jesus, our actions demonstrate that love, and our desire to follow His word reflects it. When we love and obey, we have the wonderful privilege of having the love of God the Father and Jesus in our lives. Jesus dwells in our hearts through the Holy Spirit, providing guidance and strength.

“If you love me, keep my commands. John 14:15 (NIV)

When we love God, our actions reflect that love as we trust His word and follow His path. Knowing that God walks beside us, providing us comfort and peace.

Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy and grace. Help us to love others as You love us. Help us to grow strong in faith. As in the blossom of the clematis, petals spread out from the center; let us blossom with faithful obedience and spread Your love. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
