Gracious Love: Psalm 36:10

Send forth your gracious love to those who know you, and your righteousness to those who are upright in heart.

Psalm 36:10(NIV)

A psalm of David, Psalm 36 is a song of prayer. A request to God to continue to send forth His gracious love, His loving kindness, and mercy to those who know and love Him. To continue His favor, protection, and righteousness to the upright in heart. The upright in heart; true believers who are pure and holy in intentions. To pour His unfailing love and give justice and righteousness to those with honest and loving hearts. David is praying that the gracious love, mercy, and righteousness of God continues for himself and everyone who is in a sincere and faithful relationship with God.

One definition for the term upright in heart; is to have wholeness or integrity of heart. David is praying for the Lord to continue sending forth His gracious love and righteousness to everyone in a sincere and faithful relationship with Him. Is your relationship with the Lord open-hearted, upright, and sincere?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for your gracious unfailing love. We pray that you continue to send forth to us your loving-kindness, justice, and righteousness. Help us to be upright in heart, open to Your Word and way. Guide us in Your truth and light. Like the open petals of the chrysanthemum, gather close in the center of the flower; let us be open-hearted and gather together in love. In Jesus’ holy and loving name. Amen

God is open to and listens to our prayers. If you need prayer, I will be glad to pray for you. Leave a comment or message me on the contact page. 🌺

Search me God: Psalm 139:23-24

23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24

David knew anxiety; he was pursued and fought many battles. Yet David continually praised, sang, and rejoiced in the Lord. He reaches out to God, asking for protection and strength. In humility, he asks God to look at his heart, to discern his inner thoughts. To search him to look for any sin and to deliver him from evil. David asks for notification of any ungodliness found; so he can be purified, cleansed of anything not of God. David opens his heart to God, asking Him to guide him on the path of righteousness that leads to everlasting life. This searching, purifying, and guidance is as appropriate today as it was in David’s time.

Are you willing to have God search you and test you, remove your weaknesses and sin like David, to allow God to lead you in the way of everlasting?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, you know our inner thoughts and fears. Teach us to open our hearts to You and reach out to You for guidance. Lord, search us and check our ways, guide us toward Your way. Lead us on Your pathway to everlasting. Like the open blossoms of the rose, reach for the sun, let us be open-hearted, and reach for your help and guidance. In Jesus’ loving and holy name. Amen

The Lord will Guide You: Isaiah 58:11

The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.

Isaiah 58:11 (NLV)

The Lord will guide you always through His Word, Spirit, and His counsel. He will bless you with His love. His fountain of water will flow within, bringing peace and joy, satisfying Your soul, and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, growing, flourishing, and producing fruit. His ever-flowing spring of salvation will not dry up. His compassion will never fail; His blessings will spring forth.

Yahweh will always guide you where to go and what to do.
    He will fill you with refreshment
    even when you are in a dry, difficult place.
    He will continually restore strength to you,
    so you will flourish like a well-watered garden
    and like an ever-flowing, trustworthy spring of blessing.

Isaiah 58:11 (The Passion Translation)

Are you willing to let the Lord guide you? Will you seek Him, follow His way, let His ever-flowing spring, satisfy your soul, and restore your strength?

Prayer; Our Lord, our hope and future, we thank You for Your forgiveness and guidance. When we are in a dry-difficult place, Lord, continue to guide us, refresh us with your ever-flowing stream of love and blessing. Teach us to flourish in faith, to be restored and fruitful, a well-watered garden. Like a fountain’s water, nourishes and reflects the plants, let us be nourished by Your ever-flowing stream and reflect Your love to others. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen

Do Not Be Afraid: Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

This verse has always been a go-to verse for me. This encouraging verse calms me when I am overwhelmed, gives me hope when I am discouraged, and strengthens when I am afraid. For God is encouraging us not to fear, instead to trust in Him, for He is with us, He is powerful, and no situation is greater than He is. God will support, comfort, and strengthen us. He is our ever-present help during trouble; He can be relied upon. Yes, God will uphold us with His pure, faithful, and righteous right hand.

God says, “Do not be afraid, for I am with you.” When you are overwhelmed, weak, or afraid, do you reach out to God?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for being our shelter during life’s storms. You are our hope when we are discouraged and our strength when we are afraid. Teach us to bring You our fears and not be afraid. Help us to rely on You, strengthen our faith, and guide us in Your truth. Like the petals of the peony flowers are gathered together reaching upward, let us gather our fears and reach upward in prayer to You. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen

My God will hear me: Micah 7:7

But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

Micah 7:7 (NIV)

Micah was upset and saddened by the ungodly activities and sinful ways of the people and rulers Israel and Judea. We all have a choice to follow worldly pursuits or to move forward and trust in God. To move forward in faith, embrace truth, and let go of sinful ways. The remedy for a sinful world is to turn to God for help. For our God of mercy, power, and truth, our Savior; can and will help. As Micah says, my God will hear me. He will listen; He will receive my prayers.

Micah’s lament is as timely now as it was around 700BC. Our hope and future is God; we need to move forward in hope, faith, and prayer; God will hear us. Do you watch in hope for the Lord?

Our loving Heavenly Father, we thank You for your patience, forgiveness, and being open to our prayers hearing us. Guide us on Your path of righteousness. Teach us to embrace Your truth and direction. We wait in faith and watch in hope for You, Lord. Like the obedient plants, purple blossoms glow with sunlight, let us glow with Your light, and open our hearts to Your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Future: Psalm 37:5

3Trust in the Lord and do what is right! Settle in the land and maintain your integrity!

4Then you will take delight in the Lord, and he will answer your prayers.

5Commit your future to the LORD! Trust in him, and he will act on your behalf.

Psalm 37:3-5 (NET)

Psalm 37; considered a wisdom psalm, sharing practical advice about how to live. It was written by David, in his older years. He advises us to trust in the Lord, take delight in the Lord, and commit our future to the Lord. To commit our future is an act of will, an act of faith; it is to believe in the Lord and follow His way, and to make His way our way. Letting God guide our steps, commit our future, letting go of trusting our abilities, and being patient; rest, trust, and lay our worries and burdens on Him.

Have you committed your future to the Lord?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your love and care for us. Let us grow in faith, open our hearts, trust in You, and commit our future to you. Lord, teach us to go to you in prayer, with our worries and concerns, and to put our trust in You. Like the camellia buds open to beautiful flowers every year, let us open our hearts and trust in You always. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen

Perfect Love: 1 John 4:12

12 No one has seen God, ever. But if we love one another, God dwells deeply within us, and his love becomes complete in us – perfect love!

1 John 4:12 (MSG)

We haven’t seen God’s image physically, but it was displayed in Jesus’ life. God, through the Holy Spirit, dwells within the hearts of His people. When we abide in Him, He transforms us until His love becomes complete in us; and we move away from worldly action becoming, more Christ-like. We are transformed and act with love and compassion; His love completes us – perfect love! Let us be recognized as Christians by our love.

No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God resides in us, and his love is perfected in us.

1 John 4:12 (NET)

Do others see God in you, by your love? Are you striving to be more Christ-like and perfected in love?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, we might not see you, but we feel your presence and are comforted by You. Thank You for Your love and compassion for us. Lord, teach us to be open-hearted and abide in You. Guide us to learn from and submit to the Holy Spirit to live in truth, so Your love becomes complete in us. Like violets are recognized by their delicate purple flowers, let us be recognized through our Christ-like actions and perfected love for one another.

Empowered: 2 Timothy1:7

For God did not give us a Spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NET)

Paul is writing his friend and protégé Timothy. In this encouraging letter, he reminds Timothy that the Holy Spirit empowers and directs him. Power for our life comes when we rely on Christ, who strengthens us when we are weak. This power gives us energy, courage, a spirit of love, and the ability to make sound judgments. God has given us the Spirit of love which, carries us through opposition. Strength in God’s Spirit of power and His guidance for self-control. Faith in God empowers and casts out fear.

Are you empowered; do you rely on the power of God to cast away your fear?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for your love and care. Teach us to seek your direction, rest in Your strength, and rely on Your power. Lord empower us, strengthen us when we are weak. Let us embrace your Spirit of power, love, and self-control. Like the three camellia blossoms are open and closely gathered on the branch, let us have open hearts, closely gathered to the Holy Trinity. In Jesus’ Holy name. Amen

Endurance and Encouragement: Romans 15:5

Romans 15:5

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had,

Romans 15:5 (NIV)

God is a source of endurance and encouragement. He will help us to keep going, following His path for us. God is patient and forgiving. He lifts us with encouragement and with endurance to keep moving forward. Paul is encouraging the church in Rome to get along; live in harmony. To act like Jesus did, glorifying God, showing patience, and compassion to others. With God’s endurance and encouragement, we can work together, with unity.

Do you look to God for endurance and encouragement? Are you patient, compassionate, and forgiving to others like Jesus?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for encouraging us, forgiving us, and giving us the endurance to move forward. Teach us to be patient, forgiving, and compassionate like Jesus was. Encourage us to be tolerant and work together in unity. Like the white rhododendron petals are gathered together around the flower center, let us gather together in love, centered on Jesus. Amen

My Heart

In the Bleak Midwinter
published as a poem by Christina Rossetti in 1872

1 In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
in the bleak midwinter, long ago.

2 Our God, Heaven cannot hold him, nor earth sustain;
heaven and earth shall flee away when he comes to reign.
In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed
the Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.

The Adoration of the Shepherds

3 Angels and archangels may have gathered there,
cherubim and seraphim thronged the air;
but his mother only, in her maiden bliss,
worshiped the beloved with a kiss.

4 What can I give him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
if I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
yet what I can I give him: give my heart

In the Bleak Midwinter, composed by Gustav Holst from the poem and performed by Corrinne May
