Just and Good: Psalm 33:5

4For the word of the LORD holds true, and we can trust everything he does. 5He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the LORD fills the earth.

Psalm 33:4-5 (NLT)

Psalm 33 starts with;

Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous ones; praise from the upright is beautiful.

Psalm 33:1 (CEB)

The following verses give reasons to praise the Lord. We can trust in Him, for the Word of the Lord is true; we can believe the truth of His Word (verse 4). We can rejoice because God loves righteousness and justice. He is good and wants us to be like him, moral and good. We should rejoice and praise the Lord for His goodness and unfailing love for us (verse 5). As His love fills the earth, let us rejoice and show love to all. ⁂

Our Lord is good, just, true, and righteous. He forgives our sins and loves us. Have you taken time to praise, rejoice and worship Him today?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, we rejoice in Your goodness, truth, and justice. We praise You for Your patience and forgiveness of us. We thank You for Your grace, mercy, and your unfailing love for us. Like the sunflowers grow and glow in the sunshine, let us grow in faith and glow with Your Son’s light. Amen

Perfect, Sure, Right-Psalm 19:7-10

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, [e]converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the [f]honeycomb. (NKJ)

Psalm 19:7-10

David is describing the law, testimony, statutes, and commandments of the Lord; as perfect, sure, and right. God’s Word is mentioned; in synonyms as law, testimony, statutes, commandments, and judgments. These are the will of God directing the way we are to live.
God’s Word is perfect and just; David cites the blessings that come to those who obey and love His law. Blessings include the brightening and enlightening of the eyes, the heart rejoicing, and the soul enriched.
Using six descriptions, he tells of the glorious character of God’s Word.

  • The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul
  • The testimony of the Lord is sure, making the wise the simple
  • The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart
  • The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
  • The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
  • The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

The law of the Lord is greater than gold; fine gold and has a lifetime guarantee. It’s a spiritual treasure more enriching to the soul; and more valuable than material wealth. David again says this in Psalm 119:127.

Therefore I love Your commandments More than gold, yes, than fine gold!

Psalm 119:127 (NKJ)

In verse ten, David explains that believers will find the Lord’s statutes, the way to sweet joy, sweet to the soul sweeter than honey. Yes, the Word of the Lord is perfect, sure, and right!

The revelation of GOD is whole and pulls our lives together. The signposts of GOD are clear and point out the right road. The life-maps of GOD are right, showing the way to joy. The directions of GOD are plain and easy on the eyes. GOD’s reputation is twenty-four-carat gold, with a lifetime guarantee. The decisions of GOD are accurate down to the nth degree. God’s Word is better than a diamond, better than a diamond set between emeralds. You’ll like it better than strawberries in spring, better than red, ripe strawberries.

Psalm 19: 7-10 (MSG)

Is God’s Word changing your life? Is His Word perfect, sure, and right to you? Valuable to you? More than gold?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word and guidance. Help us to open our hearts and minds to Your law. Guide us in Your perfect, sure, and right ways. Let Your commandments shine brightly in us, giving light to our minds. Like the bright yellow crocus is a signal of spring, let Your Word be a signal of hope and joy for us. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen

Righteous and Just: Romans 3:22-24

22 This righteousness of God comes through faith in Jesus Christ for all those [Jew or Gentile] who believe [and trust in Him and acknowledge Him as God’s Son]. There is no distinction, 23 since all have sinned and continually fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are being justified [declared free of the guilt of sin, made acceptable to God, and granted eternal life] as a gift by His [precious, undeserved] [a]grace, through the redemption [the payment for our sin] which is [provided] in Christ Jesus,

Romans 3:22-24

God is righteous and just. His actions are right and fair, expressions of His holiness. Humans have a sinful nature, but God is good. God demonstrates his love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) Righteousness comes from God; it is free a gift of grace to all who believe in Jesus. Christ’s death on the cross was for our sin, allowing for our justification by God’s grace, from sin to righteousness (to be right in the eyes of God). By God’s grace, belief and faith in Jesus bring salvation. Believe in God’s son Jesus, and you are saved.

God is loving, forgiving, righteous, and just. Will you accept Jesus and God’s grace?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, you are righteous, just, and forgiving. We thank You for Your love and grace toward us. Help us to grow in faith and love for each other. Teach us to open our hearts to You; increase in faith, and grow in righteousness. Like the bold peony flower brightens our days, let us be bold in faith and love and brighten the world. In Jesus’ loving name. Amen

Gracious Love: Psalm 36:10

Send forth your gracious love to those who know you, and your righteousness to those who are upright in heart.

Psalm 36:10(NIV)

A psalm of David, Psalm 36 is a song of prayer. A request to God to continue to send forth His gracious love, His loving kindness, and mercy to those who know and love Him. To continue His favor, protection, and righteousness to the upright in heart. The upright in heart; true believers who are pure and holy in intentions. To pour His unfailing love and give justice and righteousness to those with honest and loving hearts. David is praying that the gracious love, mercy, and righteousness of God continues for himself and everyone who is in a sincere and faithful relationship with God.

One definition for the term upright in heart; is to have wholeness or integrity of heart. David is praying for the Lord to continue sending forth His gracious love and righteousness to everyone in a sincere and faithful relationship with Him. Is your relationship with the Lord open-hearted, upright, and sincere?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for your gracious unfailing love. We pray that you continue to send forth to us your loving-kindness, justice, and righteousness. Help us to be upright in heart, open to Your Word and way. Guide us in Your truth and light. Like the open petals of the chrysanthemum, gather close in the center of the flower; let us be open-hearted and gather together in love. In Jesus’ holy and loving name. Amen

Justice: Amos 5:24

24 I want you to treat others fairly.
    So let fair treatment roll on
    just as a river does!
Always do what is right.
    Let right living flow along
    like a stream that never runs dry!

Amos 5:24 (NIRV)

Amos was a shepherd who had a vision about Israel back in the 8th Century BC. He wanted the people to know that God wasn’t impressed with how the rich and powerful were taking advantage of the poor. Amos called for repentance. He wanted the people to realize God wanted justice to roll like a river, always doing right. For righteousness to prevail, and justice flow like a stream that never runs dry. To have a return to true worship and following God’s commandments. For justice not to be obstructed but to be fair for all. A timely message.

Do you know what I want?
    I want justice—oceans of it.
I want fairness—rivers of it.
    That’s what I want. That’s all I want.

Amos 5:24 (MSG)

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your guidance and forgiveness. Teach us to be fair, caring, and to do what is right; let justice roll like a river. Let your Word guide us, and direct us in our dealings with others. Help us to realize and do what is right in Your eyes. Like the open and vibrant blooms of the chrysanthemum, let us be open-hearted and vibrant in our love. Guide us in Your truth. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen
