The Word – Isaiah 40:8

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

Isaiah 40:8 (NIV)

In this verse, the prophet Isaiah contrasts the temporary nature of flowers and grass to the enduring promise of God’s word.
Earlier in verse 6, Isaiah compares people to being like grass and their love and faithfulness being as fragile as a wildflower. Which withers and falls when the wind sent from the Lord blows on it.

“All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field. 7 The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. 8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” Isaiah 40:6b-8 (NIV)

Permanence and stability are found in the eternal word of God, which endures forever. For God is steadfast, His promises never fail; they last forever. When we trust in God’s word and live in obedience, His word will sustain us for now and forever. The word of God stands firm; it endures forever.

“These people are nothing but grass,
    their love fragile as wildflowers.
The grass withers, the wildflowers fade,
if God so much as puffs on them.
Aren’t these people just so much grass?
True, the grass withers and the wildflowers fade,
but our God’s Word stands firm and forever.” Isaiah 40:6-8 (MSG)

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, thank you for Your grace and love for us. Thank you for Your word and Jesus, The Word. Teach us to read Your word and follow Jesus. May Your word guide and direct us. Your word stands firm and forever, giving us hope. Though we are fragile, like dandelions and wildflowers, let us be strong and secure in our faith. Amen

Stands Forever – Psalm 33:11

The plan of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation. – Psalm 33:11 (NASB)

The Lord’s promises are steadfast, wise, and good. God’s plans are unchanging and enduring; they stand forever. What the Lord plans, He will do; His plans succeed. We have security for God’s promises endure forever.

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.

Isaiah 40:8 (NIV)

The Lord’s plan stands forever; human intentions may falter and change over time. God’s authority and plans remain steadfast from generation to generation. The plans of His heart for His people are ones of love, peace, grace, and mercy. For the Lord is good; his love endures forever.

For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:5 (NIV)

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy and grace. Your word and your promises are steadfast; they stand forever. Help and guide us to follow your word and plans for us. Teach us to rest in security, knowing Your promises endure forever. As the balloon flower balloon-like buds open into beautiful blooms, let us open our hearts and minds to You and bloom in Your light. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen

Glory to Glory – 2 Corinthians 3:18

But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NASB)

In this verse, Paul is comparing the Glory of God in the Old Testament to the glory of God in the New Testament. In the Old Testament, after meeting with God and receiving the Ten Commandments, Moses’s face was radiant. His face was shining with the glory of God. When he returned to camp, the people were afraid of him due to his radiant face. Moses started covering his face with a veil.

For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.

 2 Corinthians 4:6(NIV)

In the New Testament, God’s glory is visible through faith in Jesus. Belief in Jesus brings forgiveness of sin and removes the necessity of a veil to view God’s glory. The glory shining in the face of Jesus never fades; it shines through eternity when we have a relationship with Him. The Holy Spirit is in our hearts, transforms us, and guides us to become more like God. With our unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord.

And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We’re free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.

2 Corinthians 3:18(MSG)

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for your forgiveness, mercy, and love. We thank You for your grace, giving us Jesus. Jesus who saved us, removing the necessity of a veil to view Your glory. Like the gloriosa daisy flower petals become brighter as they radiate outward, let our lives become brighter as we grow closer to You and radiate Your love. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen

Complete: Hebrews 13:21

20Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Hebrews 13: 20-21 (NKJ)

Hebrew 13:21 is part of the benediction found at the end of the book of Hebrews, closing the letter to Jewish converts to Christianity. The author encourages them to continue in obedience, love, and prayer. For them to embrace Jesus’ sacrifice and accept the everlasting covenant; to grow in trust and follow God’s will. The author is praying for the people to be made complete in everything good and every good work. God equips us through the power of Jesus, providing everything we need to follow His path. To make us complete, prepared, and pleasing in His sight. To Christ be glory forever and ever!

May God, who puts all things together, makes all things whole,
Who made a lasting mark through the sacrifice of Jesus,
the sacrifice of blood that sealed the eternal covenant,
Who led Jesus, our Great Shepherd, up and alive from the dead,
Now put you together, provide you with everything you need to please him,
Make us into what gives him most pleasure, by means of the sacrifice of Jesus, the Messiah.
All glory to Jesus forever and always! Oh, yes, yes, yes.

Hebrews 13: 20-21(MSG)

Do you feel prepared and accept what is needed to be complete and pleasing to God?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, our God of Peace who puts all things together, we raise our voices to You in thanksgiving and praise. Thank You for your son, Jesus; His sacrifice for us and the everlasting covenant sealed by His blood. Like the hydrangea’s small individual flowers open and mature in time, becoming complete, let us open our hearts to You, follow Your will and become complete and pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name. Amen
