Blessed: Jeremiah 17:7

Blessed
7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
    whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
    its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8

As a gardener, this is one of my favorite verses. It’s like a word picture of trust in God. What a wonderful image of a tree planted by the water with strong roots and leaves always green. What a pleasure no worries, even in a year of drought and uncertain weather. What a joy to bear fruit in life. God lead me to this kind of confidence.

View from the Garden Swing: 1Thessalonians 5:14 (Patient)

Be patient with everyone.   1 Thessalonians 5:14

A short powerful sentence and a difficult task. I do consider myself to be patient and kind. However, in day to day life, it doesn’t seem to take long for my patience to be depleted. Today I will work on being patient, considerate, and slowing down my schedule to take time to enjoy the view from the garden swing.

A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and careful watchfulness; it teaches industry and thrift; above all it teaches entire trust. – Gertrude Jekyll

Garden:

For as the earth puts out buds, and as the garden gives growth to the seeds which are planted in it, so the Lord will make righteousness and praise to be flowering before all the nations.

Isaiah 61:11 (BBE)

Faith:

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
