True and Right – Hosea 14:9

Let those who are wise understand these things. Let those with discernment listen carefully. The paths of the LORD are true and right, and righteous people live by walking in them. But in those paths sinners stumble and fall. – Hosea 14:9 (NLT)

Hosea is urging the Israelites to turn from their sins and return to the Lord. The path of the Lord is true and right, he emphasized. Encouraging them to live in a way that is righteous by obeying the Lord’s commands and living in faithful obedience.  Righteousness can be defined as a quality of moral uprightness and purity that aligns with the perfect character and will of God.

Those who reject God’s way in favor of their own will falter and fall. Those who defy divine guidance will face challenges that lead to sin and disaster. This outcome is a result of relying on one’s own judgment instead of God’s guidance.

If you want to live well, make sure you understand all of this.
If you know what’s good for you, you’ll learn this inside and out.
God’s paths get you where you want to go. Right-living people walk them easily;
wrong-living people are always tripping and stumbling. – Hosea 14:9 (MSG)

This verse is a reminder for us in all aspects of our lives to seek wisdom from the Lord and follow His paths, for His ways are true and right.

Our Heavenly Father, thank you for your forgiveness and grace. Teach us to live a righteous life and to follow you in faithful obedience. Guide us on your true and right path. Like the flowers that blossom and grow along the brick pathway, let us blossom and grow more like Jesus. Amen.
