Transformed: Romans 12:2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2 (NIV)

To be transformed is to respond to the grace of God, His mercy, His forgiveness, and to be changed. To be changed in how we think, and act, to renew our minds, to what is God’s will for us. To listen and conduct our lives in a Godly way instead of a worldly self-centered way. To determine what God’s purpose is for us, and discern His good, pleasing and perfect will.

Has your mind been transformed, renewed, from worldly ways to God’s purpose, His path?

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for Your grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Help us to discern Your way, renew our minds, and transform our lives to fit Your good and perfect will. Teach us to use our lives for Your purpose and not just our own. As the flowers of the butterfly weed are transformed into beautiful dispersing seed pods, let us be transformed by You to show, and disperse Your goodness and Your way. In Jesus’ holy and loving name. Amen

God’s Word: Psalm 119:105

Summer snapdragon (Angelonia angustifolia)

105 Your word is like a lamp that shows me the way.  It is like a light that guides me.

Psalm 119: 105 New International Reader’s Version (NIRV)

The Bible, God’s word is our guide and lamp for direction, love, and help. God’s word is a lamp to our feet, in that it shows us our way and prevents us from stumbling. It also illuminates our path so we can see and avoid potholes along the way. When we follow God’s word and obey His commandments our path glows with His light and love.

Where do you need to use God’s word to illuminate your path?

Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for Your word the Bible, it is a lamp to guide our path. Help us to use the Bible to shine a light on our struggles and illuminates our way. Like the summer snapdragon’s blossoms flourish in the bright sunlight along the path, let us shine brightly and spread Your loving light along our path. In Jesus’ holy name. Amen

Confused: Proverbs 3:5

PJM Rhodendron – Early Blooms

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not depend on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (ISV)

Often when I find myself confused, trying to figure out why things aren’t going my way, or things aren’t following my well-laid plans. I realize that I am relying on my understanding. Currently, the PJM rhododendron in my backyard is blooming, because autumn sunlight and temperature have fooled it into thinking that it’s spring. The spring flower bud has opened and the blooms have appeared, but it’s autumn. Often, I also get confused, not allowing myself to seek God and ask for His direction, to let Him guide me to make my paths straight. My goal is to learn to trust the Lord with all my heart.

Where are you confused, and need God to set your path straight?

Prayer: Dear Lord, teach us to trust you with all our hearts. Like the PJM Rhodendron, with its red autumn leaves and unseasonal pink blossoms, we are often traveling a confused path. Lord, we acknowledge your loving guidance and wisdom and ask You to make our paths straight. In Jesus’s holy name. Amen
