Born Anew – 1 Peter 1:23

You have been born anew, not from perishable but from imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God. – 1 Peter 1:23 (NET)

What does the term “born anew” or “born again” mean? To be born again signifies transformation, a new beginning, and a fresh start. It is the change that happens when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We are born anew from imperishable seed, which is the everlasting Word of God. It is a spiritual transformation, by faith, through the power of the Holy Spirit. This transformation brings eternal hope.

When we are born again, we transition from a life of sin to a life rooted in righteousness. This transformation not only alters our personal beliefs but also influences our relationships and interactions with others. The word of God is nurtured in our hearts. This spiritual rebirth leads to a profound shift in our perspective, values, and life’s purpose. As we grow in understanding of hope and love, we reflect our faith in all aspects of our lives.

Through this transformation, we develop a personal relationship with Jesus, becoming more like Him by setting aside pride, showing compassion, practicing forgiveness, and loving others.

By God’s grace through faith, we are born anew and receive eternal salvation. This profound change not only shapes our identity but also guides our actions and decisions. As we embrace this new life, we are called to share this message of hope with others, reflecting the love and grace we have received.

When we confess that Jesus is the Son of God, we confirm His deity and His relationship to God the Father. Jesus is the divine, the Son of God; He is fully God and man. He is the Messiah who came to earth to save us from our sins and reconcile us with God. When we confess, we declare our trust and acknowledge our belief in Jesus. This declaration shapes our faith and transforms our lives, guiding us to live in accordance with His teachings.

Everyone who confesses that Jesus is God’s Son participates continuously in an intimate relationship with God. We know it so well, we’ve embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God. – 1 John 4:15-16 (MSG)

God and believers share a mutual relationship defined by unity, communication, guidance, and love. God transforms and shapes our thoughts and actions. This relationship is nurtured through Bible study, prayer, and obedience. As it deepens, we reflect God’s character in our daily lives and positively influence others.

Our belief in Jesus as the Son of God should be evident in our actions. We are called to demonstrate His teachings by showing love, forgiveness, and grace to everyone.

Good Work – Philippians 1:6

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

The believers in Philippi had been generous supporters of Paul, and he cared about them deeply. In Philippians 1, he gives thanks and gratitude to them for their help in spreading the Good News about Christ. He also encourages them to continue growing in their faith and to stand firm in the face of challenges.

3 Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. 4 Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, 5 for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. – Philippians 1:3-5 (NLT)

God begins His good work in us at the time of our salvation. God then continues our spiritual growth and knowledge through the lifelong process of sanctification, leading us to become more Christ-like. We are being transformed, directed, and shaped by God to fit our purpose in this world. This transformation strengthens our faith and equips us to positively impact those around us. As we embrace this journey, we become living testimonies of God’s grace and love.

Our spiritual growth continues, finishing with a flourishing conclusion when Jesus returns. Until then, we must remain steadfast in our faith, actively seeking ways to share His love and grace with others.

There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears. Philippians 1:6 (MSG)

New Birth – Titus 3:5

4 God our Savior showed us how good and kind he is. 5 He saved us because of his mercy, and not because of any good things we have done. God washed us by the power of the Holy Spirit. He gave us new birth and a fresh beginning. Titus 3:4-5 (CEV)

We are saved by God’s mercy and compassion. Salvation is a gift of grace from God to all who believe in Jesus, His son. Jesus died on the cross, paying the price for our sins. When we believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are given eternal life.

Salvation comes only from God; we can’t achieve it through our works or good deeds. He gives us a new life in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. The only condition for salvation is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

God washed us by the power of the Holy Spirit. He gave us new birth and a fresh beginning. Titus 3:5 b (CEV)

When we accept Jesus Christ, our sins – are washed away —a washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit. Through the washing of regeneration, we are made new, a spiritual cleaning, a new birth, born again. Anyone who belongs to Jesus Christ is a new person; the old life is gone.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)

The washing of our sins is an internal cleansing of the soul by the Holy Spirit. Resulting in a new birth in Jesus Christ, bringing a new life and living hope.

3-8 It wasn’t so long ago that we ourselves were stupid and stubborn, easy marks for sin, ordered every which way by our glands, going around with a chip on our shoulder, hated and hating back. But when God, our kind and loving Savior God, stepped in, he saved us from all that. It was all his doing; we had nothing to do with it. He gave us a good bath, and we came out of it new people, washed inside and out by the Holy Spirit. Titus 3-5 (MSG)

Our Holy Loving Father, we are in awe of Your goodness, love, and grace. You love us so much that You gave your one and only Son, so whoever believes in Him will have eternal life. Harmony – 1 Peter 3:8

Finally, everyone must live in harmony, be sympathetic, love each other, have compassion, and be humble. 1 Peter 3:8 (GWT)

Peter wrote this letter to the Christians in Asia Minor, explaining how all Christians should act. We should live in harmony, be courteous and accept each other’s differences, listen, compromise, respect, love one another, and live in peace and unity.

Peter reminds them that if they are to be faithful, obedient followers of Christ. They need to exhibit inner qualities by being kind and sympathetic, showing compassion, and caring for each other.

Believers should reflect Jesus’ actions by being humble, forgiving, and loving one another.

^8-12Summing up: Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. That goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. Instead, bless—that’s your job, to bless. You’ll be a blessing and also get a blessing.

Come to the Light – John 3:21

But everyone who lives by the truth will come to the light, because they want others to know that God is really the one doing what they do. John 3:21 (CEV)

To do what is true is to live by the truth, love the truth, and seek the truth. People who live by the truth and embrace what is true come to the light. The phrase, coming to the light, means following God’s truth and living a steadfast, honest, and conscientious life. Truth and light are closely related. The person who obeys God and seeks the truth by praying, reading scriptures, and following Jesus is transformed and comes to the light. In contrast, those who cling to evil hide from the light, Jesus’ light.

Light exposes falsehood and offers hope and eternal life. When we live by the truth, seek light, and follow Jesus, we are transformed; our actions are divinely approved, done in the sight of God.

19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God. Heavenly Citizenship – Philippians 3:20

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, – Philippians 3:20 (NIV)

As Christians, though we live on earth, our ultimate home is heaven; we have a heavenly citizenship. Things on earth are temporary, so we should focus on what pleases God rather than earthly concerns.

Our perspective should glorify God’s kingdom, while with anticipation and hope, we eagerly await Christ’s return. The joyful expectation of Christ’s return should shape our attitudes and actions.

We have a heavenly citizenship when we believe in Jesus; heaven is our future home.

20-21 But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him. –

Listen to Him: Matthew 17:5

5While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

Peter, James, and John were with Jesus. They watched, and in front of them, Jesus was transfigured; His face shone like the sun, and He glowed with light, radiating the glory of God.

2 As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light.

Then Moses and Elijah appear with Jesus. Peter is excited and speaking to Jesus when a bright cloud arrives and overshadows them.

5While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

From the bright cloud, God’s voice affirms Jesus and says, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him, I am well pleased. Listen to Him.”

God is telling us to listen to His beloved son, Jesus, to seek no other teachers, to hear Him, to believe in Him, and to heed His teachings. We are to be obedient and incorporate the teachings of Jesus into our lives daily.

Proven Worker – 2 Timothy 2:15

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.

In Paul’s letter to Timothy, he encourages him to be a worker who seeks to please God rather than people. Worldly things can distract, worldly problems can draw attention away from God. Instead of trying to please people and make them happy, work to please God; be a proven worker who needs not be ashamed.

A proven worker teaches the word of truth accurately striving to understand and correctly explain God’s Word to others. To help those who indulge in worldly, godless chatter and vain babbling, which leads to godless behavior, by teaching them the truth.

Paul’s challenge is to do our best to present ourselves as an approved, proven worker who understands and explains the truth of God’s Word.

Concentrate on doing your best for God, work you won’t be ashamed of, laying out the truth plain and simple. Stay clear of pious talk that is only talk. Words are not mere words, you know. If they’re not backed by a godly life, they accumulate as poison in the soul.

Humble and Gentle: Ephesians 4:2

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. – Ephesians 4:2 (NLT)

In this verse, Paul explains how to live in a way that honors God. He is urging believers to turn away from their prior lifestyles and embrace a new Christian lifestyle. As followers of Christ, we are encouraged to emulate Jesus. Jesus lived a humble life He was born in a manger, entered Jerusalem on a donkey, and acted like a servant washing His disciples’ feet. He extends grace and mercy to all, regardless of social standing. We need to follow Jesus, set aside our pride, be gentle, and humbly serve others.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. – Matthew 11:29

Jesus exhibits gentleness. He treats people with compassion, forgiveness, and love. He shows kindness to sinners, heals the sick, and treats people with respect and love.

As Christians, we learn to follow Christ’s example by being humble, and gentle, serving others, and treating everyone with compassion and love.
