Peace and Assurance: Isaiah 32:17

17 The work of righteousness will be peace,
And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.

Isaiah 32:17 (NKJV)

Righteousness is the character of God, shown in the perfect holiness of Jesus. To be righteous is to live in a way that is acceptable to God, the following of His Word, and acceptance of His path. It is a heart transformation, a trust in heavenly things rather than worldly things. When we trust and accept God’s way, we achieve inner peace and quiet confident assurance in His promise of life everlasting.

17 And the effect of righteousness will be peace,
And the result of righteousness will be quietness and confident trust forever.

Isaiah 32:17 (AMP)

When you need peace do you reach out in prayer; do you rest in God in quiet assurance?

Prayer; Our Heavenly Father, help us to grow in righteousness and become more like Christ. Lord teach us to be open-hearted, to love one another as You have loved us. Help us to grow in faith, compassion, and peace. Let us learn to rest in Your quiet with peace and confident trust forever. Like the lovely open peony, let us open our hearts and spread your Word with love. In Jesus’ holy and loving name Amen.

  1. This is such a beautiful verse. I was not very familiar with it so I read it a few times just to soak in what it says.
Your words in the prayer โ€œ Let us learn to rest in Your quiet with peace and confident trust forever. โ€œ is what I desire.
Thank you for sharing this Jeanne.
    Blessings to you ๐Ÿ’™

    1. Deb, I like your description of this as a plumb line verse, teaching us that being centered in a right relationship with God; brings us peace. It is always good to hear from you! I hope that your weather improves soon! Keep safe and warm! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’—๐ŸŒบ

      1. It’s warmed up a little, but another wave of snow is on the way! I bundled up this morning for a much-needed, but shortened walk! It was worth coooooold, but worth every step!โ„๐Ÿ˜ฐ๐Ÿฅถโ˜ƒ

  3. I love that verse! It’s so counter-cultural today, too, as we see such a lack of peace all around. Peace, quietness, and assurance are qualities that so many search for but they are truly only found in Jesus. Thank you for sharing these verses and the lovely pictures today.

    1. Patty, it is so true that Jesus is the pathway to finding peace and moving forward in quiet assurance of the future. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. It is good to hear from you!

  4. That flower is so pretty! I like how you mentioned that righteousness involves a heart transformation. There should be something different about us as Christians that people can see and feel because of Jesus who lives within our hearts. ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒธ

    1. Hi Dawn, I agree our hearts should be open and spreading His compassion and love. As the song says, “They will know we are Christians by our love, by our love….”
Thanks, I love peonies; and it won’t be long until they are in bloom again! I am looking forward to spring flowers!๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ’—๐ŸŒบ
